Obligations of an ATHP board members include the following: provide financial support to the ATHP; attend quarterly ATHP board meetings; serve on an ATHP committee or project; represent the ATHP in preservation efforts within his or her region; promote preservation in his and her region as well as statewide; and increase ATHP membership through mail or personal solicitations.

Terms for members of the ATHP Board of Directors begin in January of the year following election to the board in the fall. Terms are for three years. To broaden the base of preservation leadership across Alabama, board service is restricted to no more than two consecutive terms. Prior board members may be nominated following an interval of one term (or three years) of absence from the board.
